About Me

Hey there, I’m Dean. It’s nice to have you here! Let me start by giving you a glimpse into my world. I’m a 54-year-old guy (as of 2025) who was born and raised in New Zealand but now calls Portland, Oregon my home. It’s been quite a journey moving from the Southern Hemisphere to London, England to San Jose, California and then to Portland, Oregon, but I’ve loved every bit of it.

Back in my younger days, sports were a large part of my life. Being from New Zealand, rugby was my game, and the gym was my second home, all the way until my 30s. But as it happens with many of us, life took over, work got hectic, and the once familiar clang of weights was replaced by the quiet click of a keyboard. Now, working from home provides flexibility, but it’s also made me more sedentary.

Being aware of how a stationary life can impact long-term health, I realized it was time to make a change. Like many, I still struggle to jumpstart my mornings with exercise. I’m not one to embrace the early hours fully alert, so I’ve learned to prioritize my workouts later in the day, typically in the afternoon or evening when my energy levels align with my enthusiasm to move.

These changes are about more than just getting fit again. They’re about reclaiming vitality, preparing for decades of activity, and enjoying each moment with more vigor. Fitness isn’t exclusive to the youth. At this stage of life, it’s about intelligent, sustainable changes that fortify health and happiness going forward.

As this chapter of my life unfolds, I’m set on sharing both the challenges and victories that come with transitioning into a more active lifestyle. It’s not just about me anymore. It’s a broader mission to inspire other men to embrace the shift from a static existence to a dynamic life brimming with possibilities. After all, the journey to a healthier life is a trek best traveled with good company.
